HUZZAH! Ye olde times and a knight to remember
NOTE FROM INGENIA:
The Plantations community were lucky enough to schedule this event prior to the resurgence of Covid in New South Wales. All NSW Health regulations current on the day were adhered to in the running of this event.
We look forward to returning to a simpler time where we can all enjoy fantastic events like this one.
The residents at Plantations by Ingenia Lifestyle bolstered community spirits earlier this year with an outlandish medieval day of feasts, festivities, and fair maidens.
With valiant knights and kilted Scotsmen battling with swords, jousting, jugglers and a candlelit banquet in the ‘Great Hall’, the residents at Plantations warmed themselves with mulled wine and laughter while they stepped back in time to ye olde days of England.
As COVID-19 puts a spanner in the works of our everyday lives, Plantations residents sir-tainly aren’t letting it get in the way of a good time.
Brian Conway, resident and President of the Social Club at Plantations said the monthly events at the community and the enthusiasm from all the residents is what made Plantations so special.
“Everyone had a fantastic time harking back to medieval times. The community management team and residents went all out for the event, and we all had a blast,” Mr Conway said.
“We all dressed up for the day, I wore a knight’s outfit and even grew a beard especially for the occasion!
“It was a fabulous day – it’s not often you get fire twirlers, a spit roast and to try your hand at archery.”
Brian has held the title of President of the Social Club for two years and once again lent a helping hand in organising the event.
“I personally get such a great sense of pride and satisfaction seeing the whole community enjoy the community events that I take part in organising,” said Brian.
“Although the Ingenia team has organised and planned this particular day for us, I think what’s important is that we work so well together – there’s no ‘us’ and ‘them’, and they have as much fun as we do.
“We like to do things in our own Plantations-style and we certainly like to have fun while doing so!”
Ingenia Lifestyle Community Manager Ann Blair said the residents knew how to kick back and have a good time.
“It’s the people and opportunities here that makes Plantations a place that people want to live – these events are always a highlight,” said Ms Blair.
“It’s such a pleasure when Ingenia can run events for the residents on top of the events that the social club organises – we just enjoy being able to see the community enjoy being together.
“When people consider downsizing in their retirement, community and an active social life is one of the biggest reasons for choosing somewhere like Plantations – and you won’t find neighbours like this anywhere else.”
