Active movers and shakers cross the community line for rock
Coolangatta and Tweed Heads shook things up at the annual Cooly Rocks On festival, bringing with it 50s – 70s nostalgia, vintage cars fashion and Ingenia Lifestyle Chambers Pines’ very own line dancers!
The dancing squadron headed down the coast in the hopes that they’ll get a chance to perform their well-rehearsed routines in front of the crowd.
Ingenia Lifestyle Chambers Pines resident, Margaret Jacques, said they don’t need a stage to perform – just some music!
No strangers to performing in front of crowds, the group frequently get up at Chambers Pines community events and Open Days where they’ll be dancing for crowds of over 100 people!
“We often get asked to dance at events, it’s great for visitors to the community to see how friendly and active we are.
“Friendships have definitely blossomed from our time dancing together; my husband has even joined the group now, after not dancing for many years and he’s quite quick on the uptake.”
Margaret says there’s three beginner classes and two intermediate classes a week, it’s a great way for everyone to maintain their fitness!
“Dancing helps us to keep fit and active, great for our cardio vascular systems, balance, overall fitness and learning all those routines is great for the brain.
“In one intermediate class we can dance for just under two hours and rehearse 20 routines,” Margaret said.
Project Sales Manager, Lynda Ruddell, said the Chambers Pines team found it important to provide the group with Ingenia Lifestyle branded shirts to wear when performing.
“Not only was it a lovely feeling to be able to provide them all with matching shirts, but it also helps to provide a sense of belonging for them as well as future residents,” Lynda said.
Fitness is always more fun when you’re with your friends and maintaining it is easy within the over 50s community, with access to resort-style facilities along with the events-based program, Be Active.
