Age doesn’t stop the fun times for fitness

Age is no barrier when it comes to health and fitness! Ingenia Lifestyle and the residents in their communities has smashed the stereotype that seniors aren’t willing – or able – to live an active lifestyle with a growing number of residents participating in health and fitness activities.

A recent study by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed the importance of such programs, confirming that good health through fitness and activity not only extends the lifespan of older Australians, but also contributes to their social and mental wellbeing.

Residents from Ingenia Lifestyle Chambers Pines participate in free monthly events, social engagements and wellness workshops. We find it really strikes a chord with our residents, who are eager to stay fit; and enjoy sharing the good times with their friends and neighbours.

Avid participant in senior’s fitness, Michelle Collins, said the community’s resort-style facilities allowed her to get the most out of her day.

“I love getting on the treadmill each afternoon and spending a good 45 minutes walking and jogging, I also love the Be Active program in the community, especially the line dancing – it’s so much fun!

“As we get older, we (seniors) can become scared of fitness, but it doesn’t always have to be intense workouts – just getting out of the house and being social on game nights or other activities is great for our health.

“Moving into Chambers Pines has been the best thing for my husband and me. We couldn’t maintain our big, old home which was on acreage, so now we use our energy socialising in the community clubhouse and going for walks in the area,” Michelle said.

Onsite Village Manager Ian Thompson said the whole community loved the activities on offer through the Be Active program.

“Residents here are the first to tell you age is definitely not a factor when it comes to fitness,” Ian said.

Our onsite management teams and staff look forward to hearing from our residents. It’s great to hear how much they enjoy and look forward to the events, celebrations, activities and fitness sessions.

Community activities, events and wellbeing programs are an important part an Ingenia Lifestyle.
