An old soul with a love of life: Meet your new Lakeside Lara Community Manager
Community Manager Zee isn’t yet at the age where she’s considering retirement or downsizing, but she’s found a place where she belongs at Lakeside Lara. A self-confessed old soul, Zee is already enjoying spending time with residents, and looks forward to becoming more like a friend than a staff member.
“So many of the residents have a dry sense of humour, so I know coming to work means smiling and laughing every day,” she says.
Zee was initially drawn to the role at Lakeside Lara because she’s passionate about helping people her parents’ age get the most out of their retirement years.
With resort-style facilities on their doorstep, including the newly opened Community Hub, yoga studio, cinema and golf simulator, residents at Lakeside Lara have every opportunity to spend their days doing the things they love.
“All the facilities here mean people get out, get active and meet people. The amount of events is amazing – these residents are more social than any 21 year old. Every 10 minutes I’m getting an invite on my phone,” she laughs.
Not only does Zee fit in with the residents, she’s also quickly finding her place among the team. And Zee places a lot of importance on who she gets to interact with every day.
“You could have all the best facilities in the world – which I will confidently say we do – but it’s the staff and the residents. That’s what makes every day positive, and what makes me want to be the best I can.”
For residents who haven’t yet met Geelong born-and-bred Zee, you’ll be able to tempt her very quickly with any local produce, including wine. And for those who are considering Lakeside Lara for their next chapter, maybe pop by for a cuppa and a chat with Zee. You won’t regret the smile you’ll inevitably leave with.
