Parkside’s 100th settlement – welcome home Clare!
Moving into a new home is always a big step filled with a mixture of excitement, trepidation and hope. For Clare, Parkside Lucas’s newest resident, it’s a combination of all of the above, as well as marking two incredible milestones. The first is moving from the home she’s lived in her whole life. And the second is that her new abode will be the 100th home at Parkside Lucas.
After Clare’s husband passed suddenly two and a half years ago, Clare ran the farm all by herself, but began to feel it was too isolated. (Although Clare is rarely alone with a large family and grandchildren keeping her busy – she was even babysitting when we spoke to her!)
One of Clare’s daughters has a father-in-law who was very happy where he was living. Clare was encouraged to check it out.
“As soon as I looked at it, I said yes!” Clare explains about her initial visit to Parkside Lucas.
“I’m really looking forward to using the swimming pool, and I like that there’s classes, too. I’m happy to try anything, and I think more opportunities to exercise will entice me. I like the idea of doing a bit more walking on the footpaths, too, even an easy walk to the shops.”
For Clare, who is moving into a three bedroom ‘Heathcote’ design, one of the main appeals of the home itself was the high ceilings and natural light.
“It’s beautiful out back being north-west facing. There will be lots of sun in winter and summer, and I like the master bedroom out back, it feels really peaceful away from the road,” she says.
While Clare only knows one person so far at Parkside Lucas (her daughter’s father-in-law), she says sales manager Karen has made her feel comfortable and happy throughout her settlement process, and the other residents she’s met briefly seem nice.
When we passed on the ‘insider’ information about Friday night happy hour (which is a popular activity for many residents), Clare thought that would be a great place to start to get to know her neighbours!
Clare’s new chapter is a huge milestone for her, and it’s also a celebration of the Parkside Lucas community and how far it’s come.
Here’s to the next 100 settlements — and beyond!
