Highlights from our Ronald McDonald House Charities® partnership

For a second year running, the team at Ingenia and residents in our communities have opened their hearts to support Ronald McDonald House Charities® Australia in a variety of fun and creative ways.

Ronald McDonald House Charities® thanks every Ingenia staff member and resident for supporting and contributing to the charity directly impacting the families they support every year which would not have been made possible without our participation.

Ingenia are proud to help, in so many ways…

As the National Family Room Partner, Ingenia provides a cash donation to ensure vital services continue to support families in need with seriously ill children facing long-term hospital stays across Australia. Through this sponsorship, Ingenia helps fund the operations of 18 family rooms, providing homeware products to the rooms and supplying a food-collection drive to help create a sense of warmth and happiness to RMHC families.

Ingenia staff have also participated in the wonderful meal making for families and children through their Meals from the Heart program. With over 10,000 families staying at a Ronald McDonald House, the charity is in desperate need of support to feed the families who often turn up to their houses with, sometimes, as little as one bag.

The Meals from the Heart program offers families a chance to receive a home cooked meal and time to reconnect with their family and friends in what is often an incredibly stressful period of their lives. Ingenia staff have enjoyed the ‘masterchef’ style challenges, jumping at the chance to participate and create meals for families staying in the South Brisbane, Herston, Newcastle, Randwick, Westmead and Perth Parkville House Chapters. Thanks to our team for their wonderful support and having some fun while creating the meals too!

Another way we open our hearts is through our resident-based Knitting from the Heart program. This activity has seen many of our residents spend countless hours knitting much-needed blankets, beanies, teddy bears and toys for the beautiful children staying in a Ronald McDonald Family Rooms. The House Chapters also warmly welcomed visits from our residents to meet the families and children who receive their knitted donations, giving them a chance to see and feel the impact of their creations.

In November 2018, a much-deserved VIP holiday experience was enjoyed by the Daley family from Clermont in North QLD. The family holiday was gifted to them by Ingenia’s ‘Holiday on Us’ initiative which involves supporting a family to regroup and reconnect and assist with the recovery process.
Fiona and Jesse Daley are parents to four year old, Braith and seriously ill one year old, Olena and have spent almost one third of Olena’s life at Ronald McDonald House Townsville, 1,000km away from their home, family and friends. The Daley family were delighted to spend a week together experiencing all that Cairns has to offer at Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut.
