Demand surge for ‘active living’

New active-living community for over 50s, Ingenia Lifestyle Hervey Bay, is expecting to welcome its first residents before Christmas, following a successful sales release that saw developer Ingenia overwhelmed with enquiries from downsizers across the state.

Ingenia Lifestyle Project Sales Manager Anna Golden said the community had been received well by locals and other potential buyers around the country.

“We have seen an extremely positive response from downsizers looking to take advantage of the land-lease model and live an easier and happier life,” Ms Golden said.

“With our first release almost sold out, we are now looking at fast-tracking the second stage just to keep up with demand.

“The main appeal has been the sense of community and the benefits which come with that — a lot of our buyers are looking for this and the friendships which comes along with that.

“Our clubhouse will be a hub for the community with its open plan design and picturesque views over the lake — it will encourage our residents to get out of their homes and interact with each other.”

One of the first depositors to secure her new home in the community – 75-year-old Carolyn Watts, made the decision to move interstate to Hervey Bay to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.

“I wanted to move closer to my family after I had a bad fall in September, and when my son suggested I look at some of the villages near him in Hervey Bay, I thought why not,” Ms Watts said.

“I knew I needed to downsize, but I didn’t want to live in a retirement village, I wanted a community that was active and full of life.

“When I was looking for a new home, I kept coming back to Ingenia Lifestyle – it’s where I felt I belonged, plus it’s less than 10 minutes away from my son and there is a shopping centre across the road too.”

Ms Watts will be one of the first residents to move into the new Ingenia Lifestyle residential community and is looking forward to taking advantage of the active lifestyle the community offers.

“I came home from my trip and put my house on the market straightaway – it sold within the week, and I couldn’t believe it,” Ms Watts said.
“I love the proposed community facilities at Ingenia Lifestyle Hervey Bay— I’m looking forward to meeting new people and joining in some of the many activities within the community.

“I can’t wait to move into the community, it’s pet friendly so my 12-year-old dog Charlie will be moving up with me.”
