Lakeside Lara green thumbs and tinkerers get busy!

Wandering around the Lakeside Lara community, there is no doubt it’s home to many talented gardeners. And if you’re lucky enough to be invited inside one of our residents’ homes, you’ll more than likely see the skills of even more handy talents, from woodworking to toymaking to intricate artwork.
So there’s no surprise so many residents came together to celebrate the brand new spaces at Lakeside Lara in January - a Community Workshop and Garden.
The Workshop boasts plenty of space for tinkering and creating, with power tools and workbenches galore. And just outside the shed doors stands a vibrant Community Garden, with long, high garden beds perfect for growing vegetables and flowers, while minimising any back pain from bending over.
The official opening of the spaces was attended by more than 40 residents, and local sponsor Bendigo Bank.
“It was so great to see so many of our local green thumbs and creative types come out to celebrate these new facilities,” said Community Manager Peter Hinck.
“I know these spaces have been eagerly awaited and will be popular areas in our community. It’s especially exciting for Lakeside Lara seeing these facilities open, because it’s a bit of a preview of what’s to come for our community in the coming months with the big development due to open in the coming weeks,” he said.
The state-of-the-art Community Hub is now almost complete and will boast an indoor pool, yoga studio, gathering spaces and golf simulator, and complement the existing resort-style facilities at Lakeside Lara.
The Community Hub Grand Opening event will take place on Saturday 24 February, and we’re extending the invitation to everyone to come and experience the vibrant community atmosphere and fantastic new facilities.
