They say everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame. And at last Ingenia Lifestyle Drift resident Brian Lawrence is finally getting his, after landing himself the front cover of a national magazine.
The 69-year-old was the man of the moment at a special launch party for the latest edition of Inspire, with neighbours gathering to celebrate his newfound fame and the community’s moment in the spotlight.
The spring edition of Inspire features keen gardener Brian on the cover surrounded by fresh produce, with his story, Planted Seeds of Friendship, celebrating the connections that make community living so special.
A larger-than-life replica of the magazine cover took centre stage at the event, with residents posing for photos, enjoying refreshments and getting their hands on copies of the new publication.
For former painter and decorator Brian, seeing himself on the cover was a special moment, made even more memorable by the opportunity to celebrate with his neighbours.
“I’m a bit overawed by it all to be honest,” he said.
“I love reading Inspire because I enjoy finding out about all the other residents and communities, but I never imagined I would be the face of it.
“It’s great that Ingenia is using real people instead of models. Ingenia Lifestyle Drift is a great community and I’ve loved meeting everyone here and getting involved in all the activities, especially the gardening club.”
Brian moved to Ingenia Lifestyle Drift in Bargara two years ago with wife Kerry, who is now enjoying being married to a cover star.
“I think it’s just fabulous and the photo is beautiful,” she said.
“Everyone’s been saying lovely things about it all and we really enjoyed the launch event, especially the huge cheeseboard.”
Now in its fourth edition, Inspire shares stories of community, wellbeing and lifestyle from across Ingenia’s growing portfolio, celebrating the residents, friendships and experiences of life in an over 55s community.
Ingenia Communities Executive Manager - Residential Kristy Minter, said Inspire was all about putting real residents and their stories in the spotlight.
“Our residents are the heart and soul of our communities, and we want Inspire to reflect that by featuring the real people, personalities and experiences that make Ingenia Lifestyle so special,” she said.
“Across our communities, there are so many wonderful stories to tell, and who better to share them than the people who live them every day?
“I think Brian looks fantastic on the cover of this edition. He's certainly doing Ingenia Lifestyle Drift proud, and who knows, this might just be the start of a modelling career.” The latest edition of Inspire is available to read online at https://ingenialifestyle.com.au/inspire-magazine.
