Our ‘Community Gem’

Residents from Ingenia Lifestyle Bethania are seeing the fruits of their labour come to life this Spring with the harvest of fresh produce from their community garden.

Committee secretary, Di Meiklejohn, said the garden was affectionately named ‘Community Gem’ after, Gema, the resident who nurtured the idea of the garden project.

“We also named it this because the fruit and vegetables are just like precious gems.

“Working in the garden is especially rejuvenating for the mind, body and spirit. It overlooks the river, within a peaceful, tranquil setting,” Di said.

Community Manager, Linda Thompson said it’s heart-warming to see the residents so self-sufficient while sharing their hobbies and interests for the good of the community.

“With the solar power on the roofs, the community garden, the shed and the craft club we’re all reaping the rewards of our residents’ talents.
