What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more. You PIN your INTERESTS.
It’s just like having an ideas board or inspiration board that you pin pictures and ideas to in real life – but a digital version.
With billions of Pins on Pinterest, you’ll always find ideas to spark inspiration. When you discover Pins you love, save them to boards to keep your ideas organized and easy to find.
Your home feed is where you’ll find Pins, people, and brands Pinterest thinks you’ll love, based on your recent activity. It will also show you Pins from the people, topics, and boards you choose to follow.
You can also search for Pins by typing in keywords into the search bar. Try typing “woodwork” in the search bar to see ideas for woodwork projects, knitting guides, tips for yarn etc.
Pins are just like pins on an idea board or inspiration board you might have in your home office. All the pins on Pinterest are sites that people have pinned as interesting that you too can then pin to a board for yourself. You are literally pinning a link to a website. Pins are ideas that people on Pinterest create, find, and save from around the web.
If you click through the Pin, you can visit the website to learn how to make it or where to buy it. As you discover Pins you love, click the red Save button to save them to your boards.
When you try a Pin, you can show people on Pinterest how it went. Tried making a toy box for your granddaughter for her birthday?
Add a photo of your creation to the Pin, add a note to show people how it went or add helpful tips for anyone else who might want to give it a go.
Sometimes you’ll find a Pin that you know a friend will love. Send Pins directly to a friend or a group in a message to pass the inspiration around. You can also use Messages to chat with your friends, whether or not you shared a Pin. You can see your messages by clicking on your computer or tapping followed by Inbox on your mobile device.
The Pins you save live on your boards. Name your boards and arrange them on your profile however you want. There are no rules – organize your Pins in whatever way makes sense to you!
If you prefer to keep your Pins private or your woodwork is actually a sneaky birthday surprise, you can make your board secret. Only you and anyone you invite can see your secret boards.
Find all the Pins you save, boards you create, and Pins you try in your profile. You can also see who’s following you and the boards, topics, and people you follow.
Anyone can see your profile, but your secret boards will stay hidden. You can see your secret boards when you view your own profile.
Your profile is not just a collection of the ideas you love – it’s a reflection of who you are. It’s where all your ideas and inspiration for projects past, present, and future live. It’ll grow and evolve just like you with every Pin you save.
